Types of Kumbh Melas and Places they are held

There are four types of Kumbh Melas, each varying in frequency and significance:

  1. Maha Kumbh Mela – Held once every 12 years at Prayagraj, it is the largest and most sacred gathering.
  2. Purna Kumbh Mela – Occurs every 12 years, rotating between the four holy cities: Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nashik.
  3. Ardh Kumbh Mela – Held every 6 years at Prayagraj and Haridwar.
  4. Magh Mela (Mini Kumbh) – An annual fair in Prayagraj, observed in the month of Magh (January-February), considered a smaller version of Kumbh.

Each Kumbh Mela is based on planetary alignments, attracting millions for the sacred ritual bath and spiritual enlightenment.
